Miles Between Cities

Terms of Use

By the Miles Between Cities Editorial Team  ·  Last updated: October 2026

By using Miles Between Cities you accept these terms of use. The site is provided as a free reference resource giving straight-line distances, driving distances and estimated drive times between United States cities, together with guides explaining how those figures are produced. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the site; reading any page constitutes acceptance of the terms in force at the time of reading, which carry the last-updated date shown at the top of this page.

You may use the figures published on this site for personal planning and for ordinary business planning — estimating a journey, comparing destinations, budgeting fuel and time — and you may quote individual figures with a credit to Miles Between Cities and a note of the method attached to the figure (measured or estimated), since a figure quoted without its label misrepresents what we published. You may not republish the site's tables or pages wholesale, scrape the site at a rate that burdens it, present its estimates as measurements, or imply that the site endorses a product or service. The site's text, tables, design and compilation are protected by copyright and database rights held by the site's operator, apart from the underlying public data, which remains the property of its sources.

Distance and time figures are planning estimates derived from the sources and methods described on the methodology page — U.S. Census Bureau Gazetteer coordinates, haversine calculation, OpenStreetMap routing via OSRM, and, for labelled estimates, a circuity factor and assumed average speed. They are provided in good faith but without any warranty that they are error-free, current at the moment you read them, or suitable for navigation, contractual, legal, safety-critical or emergency purposes. You must not rely on this site as a substitute for a live navigation or conditions check before or during any journey, and your actual miles and times will differ from any figure published here.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site's operator is not liable for losses arising from reliance on its figures, from interruption or error in the site's availability, or from third-party content linked from the site, including advertising. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited. These terms are governed by the laws applicable at the operator's place of business, and any dispute about the site is subject to that jurisdiction's courts. We may revise these terms from time to time; continued use after a revision takes effect is acceptance of the revised terms. Questions about these terms can be sent through the contact page.

The site is offered as a whole, and its availability is not guaranteed at any particular moment: pages may be regenerated when source data is refreshed, addresses of individual pages may change as the index is reorganised, and figures may be corrected, replaced or withdrawn where a source revises its data or an error is confirmed. Where a figure changes, the replacement page carries the new figure throughout — headline, table and hub listings alike — rather than a footnote, so that no reader is left planning from a number we no longer stand behind. If any provision of these terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full effect, and a failure to enforce any provision on one occasion is not a waiver of it for the future. These terms, together with the privacy policy and the disclaimer page, form the complete agreement between you and the site's operator about your use of Miles Between Cities.
